回复 :根据巴金小说《憩园》改编。杨家原是当地显贵，儿子杨梦痴吃喝嫖赌，样样俱全，很快将家业败光，不得已把最后一座花园住宅--憩园卖给了姚国栋。杨梦痴虽悔，却无决心重新做人，终于流落街头，只有小女儿寒儿时常去探望他。一日，寒儿偷入憩园想为父亲摘几枝茶花，遭姚国栋前妻之子小虎毒打。国栋的续弦妻子万昭华很同情寒儿一家的遭遇，由此想到顽劣成性的小虎，决心负起母亲的责任，挽救小虎。然而她的苦心却得不到家人的理解，反遭多方奚落，使她十分痛苦。终于，小虎因行为不检，死于非命，昭华深受刺激，险些流产。至此，国栋愕然醒悟，夫妻俩亦和好如初。剧中一幕夏梦饰演的昭华抱着一本巴金的《家》看得掉眼泪，应该是朱石麟先生对巴金老先生的致敬吧。本片在今天来看，一些性格和道德的分明表现可能略显过时，录影棚的布景更是一眼就能认出来的人工布景，却别有一番文学的张力和神韵。
