山姆是一个14岁的小女孩，同志随着进入青春期，同志她的朋友们要不把注意力放在男孩子身上，要不发展了新爱好，显得山姆越来越孤独。她游泳的时候甚至都不愿意在别的女孩面前换上泳衣。为了避免这些麻烦，她开始在一个养老院帮忙，并跟那里的两个人成为朋友，帮助她度过这段青春期。
