翁虹拥有"亚姐冠军"的头衔，欧美再加上有实力雄厚的亚视力捧，欧美本来应该星途坦荡，可惜其一直以青春玉女的形象示人，长期以来戏路较窄难有发展。后来终于决定效仿叶玉卿，接拍了著名电影人南燕监制的三级片《挡不住的风情》以寻求突破。该片上映后虽票房平平，但翁虹却因此片而受到了当时在香港影坛呼风唤雨的大牌导演--王晶的赏识，并在其执导的《满清》系列中出演了《满清十大酷刑》和《满清禁宫奇案》，其中尤以《满清十大酷刑》最受欢迎，而由翁虹饰演的悲情香艳小白菜的形象也由此而深入人心。
